Independence and passion

It is April 1, 1981: As a junior, I can still remember this conversation very well with my parents, Peter & Pia Stettler. My daddy came home beaming with joy with the commercial register extract in his hands and the declaration: “Pia, from today on I am a self-employed spice mixer”. My mother's enthusiasm was rather restrained, of course, we are a family of four and then as now, everything already exists, sometimes 10 or even 1000... a market that is occupied by the really big players in the industry and then just become “independent” and take on all the risk? Goodbye security and welcome freedom?

Today I understand it better, passion is the theme, spending time doing what you love to do (and for Peter Stettler that is: tinkering with spices, mixing them and selling them to butcher shops), being your own boss and working independently.
